Mock Interviewers Needed for Hospitality Students

BEST’s mission is to provide individuals with the education, skills, and training to excel in the hospitality industry and in their personal lives. We do this through a variety of services that include job-specific skills training programs and access to educational courses (ESOL, computers, skills certifications), all of which are supported by career and academic coaching. BEST’s partnerships include UNITE HERE Local 26 (the hotel and restaurant workers’ union), 40+ hospitality employers, government and private foundations, and community organizations.

As a volunteer mock interviewer, you will:

• Meet with students enrolled in our Introduction to Hospitality Pre-Apprenticeship class.
• Simulate a 20 minute “real” employment interview, asking the students questions provided by the BEST team. You are welcome to re-word the questions if you wish.
• Spend 10 minutes after the interview exercise to provide direct feedback to the student.
• Provide notes and feedback for the career coaches to review with the students.
• Help your student build confidence and a positive attitude toward learning by celebrating their progress.
• Praise their successes and be supportive when mistakes happen.
• Build strong, positive relationships with BEST students and team members through open and respectful communication.
• Represent professionalism by dressing in business casual attire.
