Description
Overview of Position: Work with community agencies and faith communities to have visibility and presence at events through an information booth.You will help people understand HIV/AIDS and let them know about the mission and the work of TIHAN, and potentially recruit other volunteers.
Benefits to the Volunteer: You will help people understand HIV/AIDS and help them to volunteer and let them know about this fantastic agency. Provides great networking opportunity.
Specific Tasks:
- Make sure Booth Box contains all necessary materials and that you have enough materials for the event. Restock any items that are low in the booth box.
- Pick up Booth Box at TIHAN and sign out the box with date and initials.
- Be friendly and be the first to say "HI" to people while staffing the booth.
- Have no prejudice in relation to: gender, age, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.
- Tell people about TIHAN, why it is important to have information about HIV/AIDS and why faith communities should be involved.
- Help people sign up to be on the mailing list or receive more information about volunteering.
- Give people TIHAN brochures as well as other informational brochures.
- LISTEN. Many people may want to share their stories.
- Pack away all items neatly into the Booth Box and return to TIHAN.
Time Required: 2-4 hours per month, as necessary - determined by events for the month. Hours could be on evenings and weekends.
Qualifications/Experience:
Preferred: Dependable, friendly, out-going, people person. Ability to roll a 20 pound wheeled box and carry the display board and banner.
Required: Must be 18 years or older. Proof of auto insurance and dependable transportation. Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.
