    Description

Tutors Needed: Teach an Adult How to Read

    Dear Prospective Tutors,

Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts trains volunteers to provide free, individualized, and confidential tutoring to adults in the areas of literacy (basic reading skills for native and proficient English speakers) and ESOL (English as a foreign language for speakers of other languages).

You do not have to have any experience teaching or tutoring to be a successful tutor. We run free 18-hour volunteer training courses throughout the year.

We have an upcoming training for our Basic Literacy track (learning how to teach native and proficient English speakers how to read. This is an online training offered by Zoom from 6-9 p.m. on the following Thursdays: May 28, June 4, June 11, June 18, June 25, and July 2. ESOL tutor trainings will resume in fall 2026.

To find out more program requirements, sign up for an upcoming volunteer information session using this form: https://forms.gle/3kqZKqrfkaNnqeVA9,or press the "Website" button under How to Apply.

I look forward to hearing from you. We have a long list of adults waiting to be tutored, so every tutor counts.

    Sincerely,

    Eleanor Stafford, M.Ed., LVM-Boston Coordinator
