Description
Twenty five percent, or 1 in every 4 deaths in America, is a veteran.
The We Honor Veterans program at Allelon Hospice honors the men and women who have served in the military and are now at their end-of life journey.
Some of the different roles a volunteer can provide:
- Personable and compassionate volunteers are needed for pinning ceremonies or to serve as a veteran-to-veteran volunteer visiting hospice patients to offer companionship, socialization and camaraderie.
- Crafty volunteers are needed to knit or crochet red, white and blue lap blankets for veterans or supply hand-made crafts for the veteran's presentation boxes given at pinning ceremonies.
- In addition, volunteers who love more of the behind-the-scenes scenario are needed for administrative support in the development of the program to meet the unique needs of veterans.
What role is most interesting to you?
The time commitment is flexible; we work with your schedule and your availability.
We Honor Veterans is a collaborative effort among hospice organizations throughout the country, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Veterans Administration.
Our goal is to honor, serve and most importantly say thank you to those who have served our nation. We hope you will join us.
