    Description

    Mesquite-Visiting home patient

COVID testing and vaccinations not required. Will instruct how to use PPE safety equipment, and provide the PPE items.

We visit in homes with patients that are terminally ill, not contagious diseases. The patient visit is for companionship and friendship only. We are seeking those who might read to the patient, watch TV with the patient, make puzzles, play games, make crafts, whatever the patient is able and willing to do. Our goal is to be there for the patient, and provide conversation and companionship. We do not prepare meals, spend more than 2 hours at a time, or run errands for the patients. This is time they asked for a person so they can avoid loneliness and depression.

Visits should be 1-2 hours maximum and once or twice a week as determined by your availability and your schedule. You are the volunteer and we want to make this assignment easy for you, by keeping you close to where you work or live, so travel to a minimum. We appreciate your willingness to help however you can.

    Lancaster, TX, USA
    Directions

Patient lives with daughter and spouse, she is wheelchair bound, likes to go outside and sit, they have a ramp to use, there are 2 small dogs, both friendly and don't seem to be bothersome, they usually are put up or sitting in patient's daughter's chair.

Patient lives a few blocks off of I-20 and S. Lancaster Rd. Nice older area.

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

Volunteers can work with the patient to decide what they might be interested in doing, talking, watching TV, going for a walk, playing games, making a puzzle, and so much more. Some people want to do crafts, and some might want to finish a goal they had been working on completing. Each person is unique and require different abilities. I would like to send you an application and meet you for coffee and an interview, lasting about an hour. There will be home orientation, and then you will need to submit a TB test, drug screening, and background check, all paid for by the company. Then we will meet again for about 1-2 hours to finalize the Orientation and training. I will go with you for introduction to patient and whenever you need support, but not as an ongoing basis.
