    Description

Help Sort and Pack Food for Our Clients at Project Open Hand

Project Open Hand’s mission is to improve health outcomes and quality of life by providing nutritious meals to the sick and vulnerable, caring for and educating our community. As an essential services provider and public health partner, POH will continue to be open during this medical crisis and serve the community.

We are looking for volunteers to help sort and pack food at our 730 Polk St. Grocery Center in San Francisco. Volunteer assists with sorting bulk items into individual portions, sorting fresh produce, and assembling pre-packed bags.

    • Minimum Age Requirement: 15 years old
    • Food Safety: Thoroughly wash and sanitize hands, wear protective gear (hairnet, beard guard, and gloves) and follow instructions given by staff, whose main goals are the quality of the meals and safety of clients, volunteers and staff alike.
    • Dress Code: Comfortable closed-toed and closed-back shoes (no flats or sandals), shirts with short or long sleeves (no tank tops or crop tops) and full-length pants (no shorts, capris or skirts). Please do not wear jewelry. We suggest wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting messy as you’ll be working with food. All volunteers must wear hairnets and beard nets if you have facial hair. Hairnets and beard nets are provided on-site. We suggest packing light as there is limited space in locker rooms to store personal items.
    • Parking: Reserved parking is not available at Project Open Hand. Parking is at your own risk and any tickets are the responsibility of the vehicle owner.
