Volunteer Leadership Position
The Board Treasurer provides financial oversight and helps ensure the fiscal health and
accountability of NAMI Pierce County. Working closely with the Board of Directors and
staff, the Treasurer helps maintain sound financial practices that support the
organization's mission and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the organization's revenues and expenses.
- Review and approve organizational payables.
- Ensure accurate financial records are maintained for all funds received and
disbursed.
- Present monthly financial reports, including income and expenses, to the Board of
Directors.
- Help oversee the organization's financial stewardship, budgeting, and
accountability.
- Ensure financial records are prepared for audits and comply with Washington State
reporting requirements.
- Support the Board in making informed financial decisions that strengthen the
organization's future.
Time Commitment
- Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings.
- Participate in committee meetings as needed.
- Support fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement efforts.
- Serve as an active ambassador for NAMI Pierce County.
- Board terms are three (3) years. Directors may serve up to two consecutive terms
(six years total). Following a break in service, former directors may be re-nominated
in accordance with the bylaws.
- 10-15 hours per month
Qualifications
- Passion for NAMI's mission and commitment to responsible nonprofit stewardship.
- Experience with accounting, bookkeeping, finance, budgeting, or financial
management is preferred.
- Ability to interpret financial statements and communicate financial information
clearly to the board.
- Strong attention to detail, integrity, and organizational skills.
Compensation: Board members serve as volunteers and receive no compensation other
than reimbursement for reasonable expenses incurred while conducting official NAMI
Pierce County business.
