PHIG, a California Wildlife Habitats Garden
Details
Description
What to do with yourself?... that makes you feel better and also helps to keep the garden maintained! Join volunteers and know you are helping PHIG and your community!
Our vision is building PHIG into a community recognized resource with a sustainable demonstration garden, practicing water conservation, ecological sound principles, and training others in transforming their own neighborhoods and communities.
What was a community eyesore is being transformed into a natural and beautiful wildlife habitat that attracts birds, insects, bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, that is registered with the National Wildlife Federation, and is a waystation for migrating monarch butterflies as well as migratory birds.
- PHIG provides a living laboratory for all students, of all ages.
- To attract birds, butterflies, and insects with a year-around wildlife habitat.
- PHIG uses no pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers that degrade our air, soil, and water quality.
- PHIG is also simply a place to sit, relax and enjoy nature.
