Volunteer Delivery Drivers Needed in Northern Lake County!

Want to get out of the house, give back to your community, and make someone’s day? Become a Meals on Wheels Northeastern Illinois volunteer delivery driver!

We are especially looking for volunteers to help with deliveries throughout Northern Lake County. We make volunteering easy by having meals delivered directly to our three local distribution points:

• Muller Subaru – Highland Park
• Park City Hall - Park City
• College of Lake County – Grayslake

That means you do not need to drive to our kitchen in Evanston to pick up your meals! Your bags will already be waiting for you at the distribution point before you begin your route.

We service Evanston all the way to Winthrop Harbor and throughout Lake County. We always need more drivers to help us make sure our clients receive their meals.

What does a delivery route look like?

• Each route has approximately 5 clients
• Pick up your prepared meal bags at the designated distribution point
• Deliver meals directly to clients in the community
• Provide a friendly face and brief wellness check at each stop
• Build meaningful, lasting relationships with the clients you serve

For many of our clients, their Meals on Wheels driver is more than someone dropping off a meal — they may be one of the friendly faces they look forward to seeing each week.

This is a great volunteer opportunity for families, friends, couples, retirees, students, or anyone looking for a meaningful way to get out and make a difference. Bring a friend and make it something you look forward to doing together!

Volunteer Requirements:

• Must be 18+ to drive
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
• Completion of a background check
• Dependable and comfortable driving in the community
• A caring and friendly attitude

Background Check: A $50 background check is required for new drivers. If you already have a recent background check on file through another organization, we are happy to accept it!
