    Description

We are seeking a trauma-informed mental health professional to serve as an advisor to our crime victim advocacy organization.

This volunteer advisory role will primarily support our volunteer advocates by providing guidance, training, and best practices for working with individuals impacted by severe trauma, grief, and crisis situations.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting survivors and families affected by major crimes, including homicide, violent crime, or traumatic loss. Experience working alongside law enforcement, prosecutors, victim services programs, hospitals, or multidisciplinary crisis teams is highly valued.

Candidates with broader trauma, crisis counseling, or survivor support experience are also encouraged to apply.

The advisor will also provide guidance on the development of our trauma-focused AI support tools, including our “2AM Trauma AI” concept, helping ensure the technology is designed with appropriate trauma-informed principles, safety considerations, and clear boundaries.

    Responsibilities may include:

    • Advising volunteer advocates on trauma-informed communication and survivor support
    • Helping develop volunteer training materials and response guidelines
    • Providing input on handling high-trauma situations appropriately
    • Advising on escalation pathways and when professional resources should be involved
    • Helping ensure AI tools support, rather than replace, human advocates and clinicians
    • Reviewing workflows designed to assist victims and advocacy organizations

    Ideal candidates include:

    • Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW)
    • Psychologists
    • Licensed Mental Health Counselors
    • Trauma specialists
    • Crisis response professionals

    Preferred experience:

    • Homicide victim services
    • Major crimes response
    • Law enforcement victim assistance programs
    • Prosecutor-based victim advocacy
    • Crisis intervention
    • Complex trauma and grief support

This is an advisory role focused on strengthening volunteer advocates and helping build responsible, trauma-informed technology that supports victims and the professionals who serve them.v
