    Description

    Volunteer Fundraising & Communications Assistant

    Remote | Approx. 8 hours/week | 6 months | Flexible hours

Amani Community Health Partners (Amani CHP) is looking for a motivated student, recent graduate or early-career professional to join us as a Volunteer Fundraising & Communications Assistant.

Amani CHP is a community health organisation working in Uganda to improve access to healthcare and support healthier communities. Our work includes primary healthcare, HIV prevention and support, community outreach, sexual and reproductive health, psychosocial support, and programs supporting young people and vulnerable communities.

    The opportunity

You'll work directly alongside our Executive Director and Board, gaining practical experience across fundraising and nonprofit communications.

    Your work will include:

    • Researching prospective donors, foundations and corporate partners
    • Building and maintaining our donor and fundraising pipeline
    • Supporting donor outreach and follow-up
    • Researching grants and funding opportunities
    • Supporting funding proposals and applications
    • Helping coordinate fundraising campaigns
    • Creating and scheduling social media content
    • Developing donor updates, impact stories and fundraising materials

You don't need extensive professional fundraising experience. We're particularly interested in students, recent graduates and early-career professionals who are strong communicators, organised, proactive and interested in fundraising, communications, global health or international development.

    Training and mentoring

You'll receive direct training and mentoring from Amani CHP's Board Chair, who has more than 10 years' professional experience in fundraising and communications.

He began his own career in the charity sector in a voluntary fundraising and communications role just like this one — so the position is designed to give you meaningful, practical experience and a clear opportunity to develop your skills and confidence.

    Commitment

Approximately 8 hours per week for an initial six months.

The role is remote, flexible and primarily output-focused. Your hours can be worked around studies and other commitments, including weekends if preferred.

Applicants must be based within ±3 hours of East Africa Time (UTC+3) to allow coordination with our Uganda-based team.

    What you'll gain

    You'll have the opportunity to:

    • Gain hands-on NGO fundraising and communications experience
    • Receive direct training and mentoring from an experienced fundraiser and communications professional
    • Work directly with an Executive Director and Board
    • Develop experience in donor research, grant funding, fundraising campaigns and communications
    • Contribute directly to the growth and sustainability of a community health organisation
    • Receive a professional reference following successful completion of the role

There is also an opportunity to take increasing ownership during the placement and, where appropriate, formally progress into a Fundraising & Communications Lead role.

    Interested?

Please apply with your CV and a short supporting statement (maximum one A4 page) explaining why you're interested in the role and any relevant experience, skills or interests. Please email both documents to ismail@amanichp.org by 12:00 (Uganda time) on Monday 21 September.
