    Description

If you believe that education is the path to a brighter future and want to create opportunities for an indigenous community in Guatemala to develop the skills needed to effect change in their lives, we have a chair for you at our boardroom table.

Our expectations are simple. Board members must:

    • Commit to a 3-year director term (renewable)
    • Commit to LHI’s vision, mission, and policies
    • Attend 3 virtual board meetings per year and the annual board retreat (in-person, typically U.S., this year Guatemala)
    • Invest 3-5 hours/month to actively serve on at least one committee (governance, fundraising, programs and staffing, or finance)
    • Make LHI one of their top philanthropic priorities, including an annual gift that is personally significant

This year, we are particularly interested in candidates with ANY of the following profiles:

    • Former non-profit leaders with experience building or advising a leadership team for a growing organization
    • Experienced non-profit board members with exposure to board policy and governance practices (including risk assessment)
    • Corporate lawyers with regulatory expertise and/or Latin America experience
    • Certified accountants with experience in non-profits and exposure to international NGO accounting, with a strong working knowledge of US GAAP

When you join the LHI board, you join a creative, passionate, and committed group of individuals with experience in a variety of fields. We have a high rate of board member satisfaction. (Board members can be citizens/residents of any country.)

Limitless Horizons Ixil is a registered US 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a registered Guatemalan non-governmental organization. We have a 20-year track record creating opportunities for the indigenous youth, women, and families of Chajul, Guatemala to develop the academic and professional skills needed to effect change in their lives and community.
