    Description

    About Chronic Pain Project

Chronic Pain Project amplifies the voices of artists living with chronic pain through art exhibitions, storytelling, and community building. We believe creativity is a powerful vehicle for healing and advocacy.

    About the Role

We're looking for a motivated communicator and researcher to help us expand our media presence ahead of two upcoming exhibitions: a launch at Taborspace in Portland in March and a major showcase event in April. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background or interest in PR, journalism, communications, or nonprofit advocacy.

    What You'll Do

    • Research and build a targeted press list of journalists, podcast hosts, radio producers, bloggers, and other media contacts who cover health, chronic illness, disability, the arts, or human interest stories
    • Review and refine the press list with the CPP team to ensure accuracy and relevance
    • Draft press releases and personalized outreach notes that tell the stories of CPP artists compellingly
    • Send customized pitches to media contacts and follow up as needed
    • Identify podcast and speaking opportunities where CPP representatives could appear as guests
    • Research relevant conferences focused on chronic illness, disability, or arts and health where CPP might present or exhibit

    Ideal Background

    • Experience or strong interest in PR, communications, journalism, or media relations
    • Comfortable with independent research and cold outreach
    • Strong writing skills with an eye for storytelling
    • Familiarity with chronic illness, disability, or health advocacy is a plus but not required

    Time Commitment

Flexible, with a near-term focus on outreach ahead of our March and April events. Estimated 3–5 hours per week.
