Description
- Ohlone Humane Society (OHS) is seeking retired or semi-retired professionals who want to use their experience, skills, and available time to help strengthen the organization’s long-term fundraising.
- This is an ongoing role for someone who enjoys building relationships, developing opportunities, researching prospects, and seeing projects through from beginning to end.
- Particularly valuable backgrounds include business development, sales, marketing, communications, nonprofit development, grant writing, public relations, finance, or project management.
- You do not need previous nonprofit fundraising experience if you bring relevant professional experience, good judgment, and a willingness to learn.
- Predictable weekday availability is important. Much of the work involves research, outreach, follow-up, and coordination during normal business hours.
- Approximately 4–8 hours per week, depending on your interests and role.
- Ability to work independently and reliably follow through on assignments is essential.
- Comfortable communicating by email, participating in virtual/in-person meetings, and using basic online tools.
- We are looking for someone who wants to become a dependable member of OHS’s fundraising team, rather than someone seeking occasional event volunteering.
- Retired and semi-retired applicants are especially encouraged to apply.
- This is an unpaid volunteer position.
What you might do:
- Research potential donors, sponsors, foundations, and community partners.
- Identify new fundraising opportunities.
- Help develop fundraising campaigns and appeals.
- Research and cultivate corporate/community sponsorship opportunities.
- Assist with donor communications and stewardship.
- Help develop and implement fundraising strategies.
- Track outreach and follow-up so opportunities don’t get lost.
If you are seriously applying, please submit our volunteer form at https://forms.gle/qe11rFiEQ6uyrKEi6 to have your application forwarded to our program manager.
