Become a Wednesday Weeder at Washington Square Park!
Details
Description
The Washington Square Park Conservancy's Wednesday Weeders act as a vital support to Washington Square Park's one Horticulture Coordinator and seasonal gardener. By joining this gardening you're not just pulling weeds - volunteer work helps ensure that Washington Square Park remains lush, vibrant, and ecologically thriving for people, pollinators, and wildlife alike. Volunteers should be available for at least one Wednesday a month from 9am-12pm, have some demonstrated gardening experience, and feel confident working in a garden bed independently.
Before you start you must attend a mandatory orientation with our team. We'll outfit you with everything you need: gloves, kneelers, and trowels, but most importantly...knowledge! Orientations will include an in-person session about the volunteer position including an overview of WSPC and well as information on how to log your hours, weed identification, and park safety. Orientations will take up to 90 minutes. All new volunteers will be shown an in-person demonstration on their first Wednesday morning led by either the Horticulture Coordinator or Volunteer Coordinator. When we wrap up, you'll be ready to weed!
