    Position Summary

    Coat of Many Colors Ministries (CMCM) is seeking caring, dependable, and community-minded volunteers to assist our Food Distribution Division in helping individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

    Food Distribution Volunteers play an important role in helping organize, prepare, distribute, and provide food assistance to clients in a respectful, friendly, and supportive environment.

    Volunteers help us bring hope, dignity, compassion, and practical assistance to members of our community who are facing difficult times.

    Volunteer Responsibilities

    Responsibilities may include one or more of the following activities:

    Food Preparation & Organization

    • Sort food items
    • Inspect food for quality and organization
    • Package food bags or food boxes
    • Organize tables, supplies, and distribution areas

    Food Distribution Support

    • Assist with distributing food to clients
    • Carry food items when needed
    • Help maintain organized distribution flow
    • Assist seniors, veterans, and individuals with mobility challenges

    Client Support & Hospitality

    • Welcome clients warmly and respectfully
    • Provide helpful information and directions
    • Help create a safe, positive, and encouraging environment

    Setup & Cleanup

    • Assist with setup before distribution begins
    • Help clean and organize work areas afterward
    • Move supplies, boxes, or light equipment as needed

    Inventory & Support Tasks

    • Help monitor supplies and food quantities
    • Assist with labeling, stocking, or organizing inventory
    • Support administrative or logistical needs when requested

    Volunteer Qualifications

    CMCM welcomes volunteers from diverse backgrounds who desire to serve others.

    Preferred qualifications include:

    ✔ Positive attitude

    ✔ Dependable and punctual

    ✔ Friendly and respectful toward clients and fellow volunteers

    ✔ Willingness to work as part of a team

    ✔ Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines

    ✔ Commitment to serving individuals and families with dignity and compassion

    No previous food distribution experience is required.

    Training and instructions will be provided.

    Physical Requirements (When Applicable)

    Some volunteer activities may involve:

    • Standing for periods of time
    • Light lifting or carrying of food boxes or supplies
    • Walking between workstations
    • Working indoors and occasionally outdoors

    CMCM encourages individuals with different physical abilities to inquire about volunteer opportunities. We will work to match volunteers with appropriate assignments whenever possible.
