    Description

Young Leadership Committee Member: Center for Enriched Living

The Young Leadership Committee (YLC) is a passionate group of Chicago young professionals dedicated to advancing CEL’s mission: maximizing opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As ambassadors of CEL, YLC members lead engaging philanthropic events, build meaningful partnerships, participate and support fundraising initiatives, volunteer in programs, and contribute their diverse skills to help CEL grow and thrive.

    Mission

To cultivate a community of young leaders who champion inclusion, awareness, and opportunity for people with developmental disabilities through engagement, advocacy, fundraising, and collaboration.

    Vision

A joyful, connected network of young leaders driving awareness and action—where everyone feels inspired, empowered, and included.

    YLC Commitment & Involvement

YLC members are asked to commit to being involved for 1–2 years and can expect to spend an average of 5-8 hours per month. Involvement includes:

    • Attending monthly virtual YLC meetings (currently the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30–6:30 PM)
    • Helping plan and promote YLC and CEL events for your personal and professional networks
    • Participating in in-person volunteer opportunities at CEL’s Center in Riverwoods (approximately 2–4 times per year, weekdays and weekends)
    • Joining the Developmental Disability Awareness Month (DDAM) fundraising team in March (mostly remote)
    • Attending and supporting CEL signature events (Chef’s Night, Artful Evening, Golf Outing)
    • Optional opportunity to serve as a mentor in CEL’s virtual career mentorship program
