    Meal Prep, Serving, and Clean-up

    Open Day volunteers prepare, serve, and clean up the meal when no pre-formed volunteer team is designated. Iowa City Free Lunch is located at 1105 Gilbert Ct. in Iowa City, and we serve meals from noon-1pm, Monday through Saturday. We serve around 120 meals each day.

    Teams from different community groups organize the cooking and serving of most of our meals, and there are also slots for ad hoc volunteers from 10:30-1:30 or 11:30-1:30 on various days. Sign up to help in June/July/August here:

    Directions

    Make sure you navigate to 1105 Gilbert COURT, (not Gilbert STREET). If you're driving, park behind the building on the west side; you'll find the volunteer entrance there. If you're arriving by bike or bus, be assured that we have bike racks conveniently located in front and the Route 1 (South Iowa City) bus has several stops within a 1-block radius.
