Veteran Volunteer Opportunity Description

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of fellow veterans by volunteering with our hospice program. Veteran Volunteers provide companionship, emotional support, and recognition to veteran patients facing life-limiting illnesses. Through friendly visits, conversation, life review activities, and participation in Veteran Recognition Ceremonies, volunteers help honor our patients' military service and ensure they feel valued and respected.

Responsibilities:

• Visit veteran patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes.
• Provide companionship and emotional support through active listening and conversation.
• Participate in Veteran Recognition Ceremonies and special appreciation events.
• Share military experiences and help foster meaningful connections with veteran patients.
• Support the hospice team's mission of enhancing quality of life and preserving dignity.

Qualifications:

• Veteran of any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces preferred.
• Compassionate, dependable, and respectful of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Completion of hospice volunteer training and background screening requirements.

Time Commitment: Flexible scheduling based on volunteer availability. Visits typically occur weekly or biweekly.
