Description
Porchlight Community Services rescues food from going to waste and offers healthy options for low-income families with food restrictions and allergies that are not usually available at food pantries.
Porchlight is in need of drivers to pick up and deliver food from donor businesses to Porchlight's food pantry. Responsibilities include communicating with donors to arrange pick-ups as needed, safely loading the delivery van, ensuring timely delivery of donations to the pantry, following all food safety guidelines, and helping to unload the van, if needed. Volunteers must have a valid driver's license and be dependable.
Here are the food pick up shifts that Porchlight needs help covering:
Tuesday 8:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm in the Kearny Mesa area (Various Stops)
Wednesday 8:30 pm-9:30pm in Mission Valley
Wednesday 8:30 pm- 9:30pm in Clairemont
Saturday 9:00am-11:00am in La Jolla
Sunday 9:00am-11:00am in La Jolla
Sunday 10:00am-12:00pm in Mission Valley
Project Requirements & Important Notes
Commitment: Volunteers should be willing to commit to serving for at least six months. This volunteer opportunity is available on Thursday and Saturday mornings, as well as weekday evenings two times a week.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
