Make a Difference Through the Gift of Presence
AccentCare Hospice is seeking a caring and compassionate volunteer to provide companionship and social support to a hospice patient living near the Hobby Airport area of Houston.
This patient has very limited family involvement and would greatly benefit from regular one-on-one interaction, conversation, and meaningful social connection. A friendly visit, a listening ear, or simply spending time together can bring comfort and brighten someone's day.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Provide companionship through friendly visits
- Engage in conversation, storytelling, and reminiscence
- Offer emotional support and social interaction
- Read aloud, play simple games, listen to music, or participate in other enjoyable activities
- Help reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness
Volunteer Qualifications
- Compassionate and dependable
- Good listener with strong interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working with older adults experiencing memory loss
- Able to commit to regular visits
- Complete AccentCare Hospice volunteer onboarding and training requirements
