    Description

The SLANG Global Project is an international 501(c)(3) nonprofit connecting West Africa and Latin America, with a focus on Afro-Latin relations, culture, and studies. Founded in 2023 and based in North Carolina, we work across West Africa (Enugu), Latin America, and North America through online Spanish classes, cultural exchange, arts and education, and Rewoven, our sustainable fashion campaign.

We're looking for a volunteer Chief of Staff to help hold it all together and push it all forward. You'll work cross-culturally with our team in West Africa (Enugu) and with people in Latin American countries, Spain, and other European countries.

You don't need to have been a Chief of Staff before. We'll coach you and teach you along the way. What you do need is a clear sense of what a Chief of Staff actually does. This person is the connector. You'll work across programs, people, and projects, making sure the right things get to the right people and that nothing important falls through the cracks.

The most important thing we're looking for is agency. We want a builder. Someone who sees a gap and fills it, who creates things instead of waiting for instructions, and who would rather ship a first draft than sit on a perfect idea.

We're also a nontraditional organization. We work 4-day weeks. We're remote first. Our team spans US and West Africa time zones. And we lean hard on AI. AI agents already handle much of our day-to-day operations, outreach, and communication behind the scenes. As Chief of Staff, you'll work alongside these AI platforms to build processes, communicate, and do outreach. That frees our leaders to think bigger and connect people, and it means someone needs to make sure the systems actually work. That someone is you.

    What You'll Do

    - Act as the connector between our leadership, programs, and partners in North America, Latin America, and West Africa

    - Build and manage projects from idea to done, with clear owners, timelines, and follow-through

    - Work with our AI agents and tools to design, improve, and document the processes that keep SLANG running

    - Help shape and support outreach and communication, using AI to do more with less

    - Keep an eye on our systems and flag (or fix) what isn't working

    - Help leadership stay focused on the big picture by handling coordination and keeping priorities moving

    - Spot opportunities and start building on them without needing a detailed brief

    Who You Are

    - A builder with real agency. You create things and you don't wait to be told

    - Organized, with solid project management skills

    - Great at managing your own time and setting up working hours that fit you and a team across time zones

    - Clear on what a Chief of Staff does, even if you haven't held the title

    - Comfortable with AI tools, and curious about what they can do. This isn't an absolute requirement, but we strongly want it

    - A clear, warm communicator who is comfortable working with people from different cultures

    - Excited about education, cultural exchange, the arts, and sustainable fashion

    Nice to Haves

    - Experience with Zoho, Google Workspace, and Slack

    - Hands-on experience with Claude, ChatGPT, or agentic AI workflows

    - Experience in nonprofits, startups, or other small, fast-moving teams

    - Experience working with teams or communities in West Africa or Latin America

    - Spanish language skills (a plus, not required)

    What You Get

    - Coaching and mentorship from SLANG leadership as you grow into the role

    - Real leadership experience inside a growing international nonprofit

    - A flexible, remote-first, 4-day work week schedule

    - A front-row seat to working at the edge of AI in nonprofits, building with agentic AI tools every day

    - A real experience connecting with people all over the world while promoting programs and initiatives for Afro-Latin relations, culture, and studies
