Board Member - Secretary — Shared-Equity Senior Housing Nonprofit
Details
Description
Boomers Collaborative Foundation seeks a volunteer Board Secretary who would like to use their organizational and writing skills to help advance an innovative and urgently needed approach to affordable senior housing.
We are an Austin-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to create mixed-use, limited-equity cooperative housing where older adults can age together with greater affordability, stability, and connection. With our market study completed and funded community outreach underway, this is a meaningful time to join our Board and help move the work forward.
Our Secretary helps the Board maintain clear, accurate records of its meetings, decisions, and governance actions. This is a voting Board position focused on governance records rather than general office administration. The Secretary works with our President and other Board members to ensure that Board actions are properly documented and easy to locate.
How you can help ...
- Prepare or oversee preparation of concise, accurate Board meeting minutes
- Circulate draft minutes for review and incorporate approved corrections
- Maintain approved minutes, written consents, Board resolutions, and other official Board records
- Help track governance documents, Board rosters, formal approvals, and follow-up actions
- Help ensure that Board decisions are clearly documented and easy to locate
- Coordinate with the President and committee leads on agenda-related documentation
- Participate in Board discussions and decisions as a voting director
This opportunity may be a good fit for someone with experience in ...
- Board service, nonprofit administration, governance, legal support, executive support, or records management
- Preparing meeting minutes or maintaining formal organizational records
- Writing clearly and organizing information carefully
- Working with Google Docs and shared-drive systems
Prior Board experience is helpful but not required. We welcome inquiries from people who are organized, attentive to detail, and interested in affordable housing, aging, cooperatives, community development, or economic security.
