The Volunteer Grant Writer will play a vital role in helping The Gillespie Center secure funding to support programs, operations, and special initiatives. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys writing, research, and making a tangible impact in the lives of seniors. The Grant Writer will work closely with the Executive Director and development team to identify funding opportunities and craft compelling proposals.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
- Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
- Collaborate with Center Director to gather relevant program and organizational information needed for proposals.
- Maintain a grants calendar to track deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
- Assist in preparing progress and final reports for awarded grants.
- Help develop and maintain templates, data, and success stories for future applications.
- Ensure all grant materials align with The Gillespie Center’s mission and goals.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong research and organizational abilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in nonprofit grant writing, fundraising, or related field preferred (but not required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Google Workspace.
- Passion for supporting seniors and commitment to the mission of The Gillespie Center.
Commitment & Schedule
- Flexible schedule; approximately 5 hours per week.
- Remote or on-site participation (as preferred).
- Minimum three-month commitment requested.
