Description:
This opportunity is for a volunteer to lead weekly computer literacy sessions for residents at Arboleda who have expressed interest in improving their technology skills. The volunteer will provide guidance on basic computer use and digital tools based on resident needs. Sessions are held weekly on Tuesdays or Thursdays, with scheduling coordinated based on volunteer availability. No additional language skills are required.
Reports to:
Volunteer Coordinator and the site’s Service Coordinator
Goal of Position:
To help residents build confidence and fluency in using computers and digital tools to navigate everyday tasks, access information, and maintain connections.
Specific Tasks:
- Assess residents’ technology needs and adapt sessions to their interests.
- Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group assistance with computer basics and digital skills.
- Support residents with tasks such as internet browsing, email, forms, and basic programs.
- Offer clear, patient guidance and encourage residents to troubleshoot independently.
- Manage multiple requests using a first‑come, first‑served approach when applicable.
- Coordinate with the Service Coordinator if offering structured lessons or workshops.
- Ensure all participants sign the sign‑in sheet.
- Communicate supply or support needs to the Volunteer Coordinator or Service Coordinator.
Qualifications:
Physical/Age Requirements:
- Able to stand and move around the room during sessions.
Skills/Education/Experience:
- Strong general knowledge of computers and basic digital tools.
- Ability to explain technology concepts clearly and simply.
- Friendly, patient, and open‑minded.
- Prior experience teaching, training, or assisting others with technology is preferred.
