    Description

    Program Intake Coordinator

    About CALM:

A Detroit-based nonprofit creating safe, accessible, and culturally affirming spaces for Black women to prioritize mental health, self-care, and holistic wellness. Our programs include support circles, therapy access, wellness workshops, and community healing experiences.

We are seeking a compassionate, organized Intake Coordinator Volunteer to support participant onboarding and ensure individuals are smoothly connected to CALM programs and partner services.

    Position Overview:

The Intake Coordinator Intern serves as the first point of contact for individuals expressing interest in CALM programs. This role focuses on gathering participant information, providing program explanations, maintaining accurate records, and supporting referrals — non-clinical but highly people-centered.

This is an excellent opportunity for students who want hands-on experience in community mental health, client engagement, and nonprofit operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Respond to participant inquiries via email and intro call.
    • Conduct brief intake calls (scripted) to gather basic information.
    • Explain CALM programs and available services clearly and compassionately.
    • Enter and maintain participant data in tracking systems.
    • Route participants to appropriate programs or partner services.
    • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Support monthly reporting (number of intakes, referrals, follow-ups).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Public Health, or related program
    • Strong communication and active listening skills
    • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
    • Comfortable using Google Workspace and basic digital tools
    • Passion for mental health, wellness, and community-centered work
    • Culturally responsive and aligned with CALM’s mission

    No clinical license required.

    What You’ll Gain:

    • Real-world experience in nonprofit mental health operations
    • Exposure to participant intake, referral processes, and community programming
    • Mentorship from nonprofit leadership
    • Letter of recommendation upon successful completion
    • Opportunity to grow into paid or expanded roles as organization scales
