Share your love of reading as an Oasis tutor/reading mentor.

You can change a life by providing the individual attention that helps elementary school children build confidence and experience success.

Oasis works in partnership with local school districts to pair volunteer tutors/reading mentors with children in grades K-5 who teachers feel would benefit from a caring, one-on-one mentoring relationship.

Note: We are currently recruiting for fall training 2026. Pre-registration is required.

After training and a fingerprint background clearance, we place volunteers with students to read for one hour, one day a week, following the school schedule. Please note that this is a two year commitment. Our volunteers are trained to use the Oasis 6-step literacy approach that supports classroom curriculum. Volunteers select books based on the students interest with the goal of getting them "excited" about reading!
