    About Pathos Wildlife

Pathos Wildlife is a growing conservation organization dedicated to protecting wildlife around the world through research, emerging technologies, and community-driven solutions. Our work is supported by a diverse team of volunteers who contribute their skills across various areas of the organization, including research support, communications, administration, outreach, and project management. These remote, non-field-based volunteer roles help support our conservation initiatives and the continued growth of the organization.

    Volunteer Coordinator (Volunteer)

    Role Overview

We are seeking an organized and dependable Volunteer Coordinator to oversee and manage Pathos Wildlife's growing team of remote, non-field-based volunteers. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills who is passionate about wildlife conservation and helping a mission-driven organization grow.

As our Volunteer Coordinator, you will help manage the volunteers who support the operational and organizational aspects of Pathos Wildlife, coordinating responsibilities across departments and ensuring team members remain engaged, productive, and supported in their roles. You will serve as a central point of contact for volunteers working across areas such as communications, administration, graphic design, website development, and project coordination, helping ensure their contributions align with the organization's goals and ongoing needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee and manage Pathos Wildlife's volunteer team, helping ensure volunteers remain active, engaged, and supported in their roles
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing questions, providing updates, and facilitating communication across the organization
    • Monitor volunteer participation, progress, and completion of assigned responsibilities
    • Coordinate with department leads to track ongoing tasks, identify staffing needs, and ensure volunteers are meeting project expectations
    • Help establish clear responsibilities, expectations, and communication procedures for volunteers across the organization
    • Assist with recruiting, reviewing applications, onboarding, and assigning new volunteers to appropriate roles
    • Maintain organized records of volunteers, including their roles, responsibilities, availability, and involvement in organizational activities
    • Follow up with volunteers regarding outstanding tasks, deadlines, and commitments
    • Identify challenges affecting volunteer participation and work with organizational leadership to improve team engagement and coordination
    • Help develop and implement procedures to improve volunteer management as Pathos Wildlife continues to grow

Preferred Skills (But Not Always Necessary)

    • Experience in team management, volunteer coordination, leadership, human resources, or a related field
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to manage multiple volunteers and coordinate responsibilities across different projects and departments
    • Experience tracking tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring responsibilities are completed
    • Familiarity with project management and communication tools such as Slack, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Trello, or similar platforms
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and hold team members accountable in a professional and supportive manner
    • Interest in wildlife conservation, nonprofit work, or mission-driven organizations

    What You'll Gain

    • Hands-on experience managing a volunteer team within an international conservation organization
    • Opportunities to develop leadership, team management, and project coordination skills
    • Experience working alongside conservation scientists, researchers, and nonprofit leadership
    • Insight into the organizational management of wildlife conservation research and field projects
    • Networking opportunities within the global conservation community
    • The chance to contribute directly to wildlife conservation efforts worldwide by helping ensure the team behind Pathos Wildlife's work operates effectively

    Time Commitment

This position is flexible and fully remote, making it ideal for students, early-career professionals, or experienced individuals looking to develop their leadership and management skills while contributing to a meaningful cause. Volunteers can contribute on a schedule that fits their availability, with the expectation of maintaining consistent communication, following up with team members, and dedicating sufficient time to overseeing the organization's volunteer team.
