    Training: Yes, only trained volunteers may lead a hatchery tour. Training is a series of 4 2-hour sessions and scheduled throughout the year.

    Description

    Hatchery Tour Guide Volunteer

    Lead educational tours of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery to teach students and public groups about salmon conservation, hatchery fish operations, and watershed stewardship.

    Timing: Year-round, however, mostly in the fall. From September to November, volunteer tour shifts are usually weekdays at 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm and weekends from 10 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 3 pm.

    Location: Issaquah Salmon Hatchery

    Requirements: Volunteers must be age 16 or older.

    Commitment: 18+ hours

    • Complete volunteer registration (0.5 hours)
    • Attend volunteer orientation (1 hour)
    • Attend Hatchery Tour Guide Training (8 hours)
    • Lead Hatchery Tours (8+ hours)
