    Time Commitment: Flexible, approximately 3–5 hours per week

    About Maya's Hope

    Maya's Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children in need in Ukraine and the Philippines. We provide life-saving surgeries, medical care, therapy, educational support, and emergency assistance to children facing extraordinary challenges. Since 2010, Maya's Hope has helped thousands of vulnerable children receive the care and opportunities they deserve.

    Position Overview

    Maya's Hope is seeking a passionate and creative PR & Media Relations Volunteer to help raise awareness of our mission and the children we serve. This role is ideal for someone with experience or interest in public relations, journalism, communications, media outreach, or storytelling.

    The volunteer will help secure media coverage for our life-changing work, build relationships with journalists, and share inspiring stories that can attract donors, sponsors, and supporters.

    Responsibilities

    • Research and build targeted media lists
    • Identify journalists, editors, producers, podcasters, and influencers who may be interested in covering Maya's Hope
    • Draft press releases, media advisories, and story pitches
    • Pitch compelling stories to local, national, and international media outlets
    • Promote major organizational milestones, fundraising campaigns, and events
    • Help highlight children's success stories, medical journeys, and impact stories
    • Monitor media coverage and identify new outreach opportunities
    • Collaborate with the Maya's Hope team on communications strategy

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field is helpful but not required
    • Ability to craft compelling human-interest stories
    • Strong research and organizational skills
    • Passion for humanitarian work and child advocacy
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently
