    Description

    Hospice Direct Service Volunteer

Become a part of our Volunteer Team! You will make the Difference! La Diferencia needs direct service volunteers to provide home visits, companionship and active listening to patients. A presence. We also need volunteers to provide caregiver support. While the volunteer is visiting with the patient, the patient's loved one will be able to get some much needed rest or get an errand done. If appropriate, you may be able to create a book about the patient's life, through an informal question/answer method. Patient's appreciate knowing someone is helping them to write a book about their life. Volunteers also provide light household cleaning, utilize games, puzzles, books, crafts and music as ways to engage with patients who are terminally ill. Note: we follow CDC, CMS and CHAP guidelines for safety. All volunteers do not have to be fully COVID vaccinated as of August 11th, 2023.

If you are a student who is needing an internship or job opportunity we will provide you with the ability to learn and utilize best practices to serve your patients along with meeting your college or universities requirements. We then, will also provide you with letters of recommendation, reference letters, etc., that will help you with future employment and/or education. We treat each other and our volunteers like family (Como Familia), so you will enjoy your volunteer or studnet internship experience.
