Mailchimp Pro? Help us change lives with words!

Volunteer Role: Weekly Newsletter + Mailchimp

Do you enjoy creating emails that people actually read?

Our Safe Space is looking for a detail-oriented, Mailchimp-savvy volunteer to help produce and coordinate our weekly newsletter. This role is ideal for someone who communicates well, enjoys organized teamwork, and understands how thoughtful communication builds real community.

Bonus points if you naturally think: “How do we make people feel engaged enough to tell a friend?”

    About Us

Our Safe Space is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2024. We create welcoming, judgment-free spaces for personal growth, creativity, and connection — especially for women and LGBTQ+ community members.

In just 2 years, we’ve grown to a community of 800+ members, with free workshops, book clubs, and community events both online and in-person.

Our weekly newsletter is one of the primary ways we stay connected as a community.

    What You’ll Do

    • Format and schedule our weekly newsletter in Mailchimp
    • Integrate content we provide (articles, images, event blurbs, links)
    • Keep layouts clean, organized, mobile-friendly, and easy to read
    • Coordinate with our founder and occasional team contributors
    • Help maintain consistency, clarity, and flow from week to week
    • Suggest ideas that encourage engagement and sharing

Time commitment: generally 1–2 hours per week.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience using Mailchimp (or similar email platforms)
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Detail-oriented and dependable
    • Comfortable working collaboratively with a small volunteer team
    • Good judgment about tone, readability, and audience engagement
    • Light formatting/editing skills (no major writing required)
    • Someone who enjoys making communication feel human and welcoming

    What’s In It For You

    • Be part of a warm, fast-growing nonprofit doing meaningful community work
    • Use your skills in a role that is appreciated, manageable, and clearly defined
    • Help support hundreds of people through thoughtful communication and connection
    • Add meaningful nonprofit and communications experience to your résumé or portfolio

    Interested?

If you enjoy thoughtful communication, understand the value of community-building, and know your way around Mailchimp, we’d love to hear from you.
