    Description

Beale Horton Health (BHH) is on a mission to end the 2 million preventable child deaths caused each year by donor funding collapse—the #1 killer of children globally, surpassing HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. BHH delivers a world-class school-based health model that uses behavioral science, sustainable incentives, and smart technology to keep children healthy even after donor programs end. As the scaling arm of Cocoa360, and rooted in 10 years of its research in Ghana, BHH’s model has reached 35,000 families, and by 2027, aims to protect 5 million African children everyday.

    Position Overview

The Development Fellow will play a crucial role in expanding Beale Horton’s funding base during a pivotal period of scale. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, mission-driven communicator who wants hands-on experience in nonprofit development, global health, education, and social impact.

You will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and leadership team to identify grants, craft compelling proposals, and help secure funding that advances a transformative and urgently needed health innovation.

    Responsibilities

    • Research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, global health funders, and research institutions.
    • Draft grant proposals, concept notes, and letters of inquiry aligned with BHH’s mission and programs.
    • Help maintain an organized grant pipeline (deadlines, submissions, reporting).
    • Gather supporting materials such as budgets, organizational profiles, and impact data.
    • Assist with reporting for awarded grants, including drafting narratives and collecting project metrics.
    • Participate in regular check-ins.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Excellent writing and editing skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
    • Interest in global health, Africa-focused initiatives, education, or social innovation.
    • Research skills and ability to synthesize complex information.
    • Experience with grant writing or nonprofit fundraising (preferred but not required).
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace.

    What You’ll Gain

    • Direct experience writing grants for a high-impact, rapidly scaling global health organization.
    • Insight into African-led innovation, sustainable health financing, and behavioral science.
    • Opportunities for deeper involvement or leadership roles based on performance and commitment.
