    Description

    The Longest Table Kensington

Brown Babies n’ Books is seeking volunteers to support The Longest Table: Kensington, a community meal and block gathering in honor of Black Maternal Health Month.

Taking place on Sunday, 4/26 from 3–6 PM on E 8th Street (between Church Ave + Beverley Rd), this event will bring together families, neighbors, and local organizations for an afternoon of food, storytelling, and collective care.

We are looking for volunteers to support with:

    • Event setup + breakdown (tables, chairs, signage)
    • Welcome/check-in table support + guest flow
    • Supporting families and children’s activity areas
    • Assisting speakers + helping maintain event timeline
    • Food coordination + community table support
    • General on-the-ground support to ensure a smooth, welcoming experience

    Who we’re looking for:

Community members who are reliable, warm, and excited to support a grassroots, community-centered event. No prior experience required—just a willingness to show up and be part of something meaningful.

    Time Commitment:

Flexible shifts available (setup support earlier in the day + event support from 3–6 PM)

Join us in creating a powerful, welcoming space centered on connection, storytelling, and advancing awareness around Black maternal health.
