Hospice Volunteers
Details
Description
One hour a week minimum commitment.
Hospice provides full-service care for individuals who are expected to have 6 months or less to live. Our care team provides medical, emotional, and spiritual support to these patients and their families. An important part of that program is performed by volunteers who can visit patients in their residences, or help with administrative tasks in our home office. Examples of services that volunteers can provide are:
- Helping patients and families with light household chores
- Running errands
- Short term respite
- Transportation
- Companionship
- Providing discussion/reminiscence activities
- Lawn care
- Walking a patient’s dog
- Reading to a patient
- Playing games with the patient
- Helping patient put together a puzzle
- Watch T.V. or a movie with the patient
- Accompany patient on walking trips outside
- Professional Services (If licensed or otherwise qualified)
- Barber/cosmetology services
- Pet therapy
- Music therapy
- Notary services
- Therapeutic massage
We have volunteer opportunities in Salt Lake, Davis, Weber and Utah Counties. If you are interested in helping with office tasks (i.e., assembling admission packets or mailing bereavement cards), our office is located in Murray. Please contact me with any questions or if you are interested in becoming a volunteer.
