Do you have free time during the week to spend 1-2 hours with hospice patients? Our respite volunteers can provide time for families to step out and take a break from their caregiving duties. Volunteers can sit with patients and provide companionship and compassion while also providing a much needed break for caregivers. These volunteers are imperative for helping prevent caregiver burnout for these dedicated caregivers as we also provide some much needed companionship for our hospice patients.
During their time with the patient, volunteers can provide companionship, non-clinical assistance, or a listening ear. Volunteers can also provide light housework, silent companionship, reading, letter writing services, or journaling for the patient they are paired with. Providing comfort to patients that are experiencing a terminal illness can be an incredibly rewarding experience for the volunteer.
