The Grand Rapids Lantern Festival at John Ball Zoo is a breathtaking experience of light and wonder: a one-mile tour along a path illuminated by handcrafted Asian lantern displays that tell the intersecting story of wildlife and Asian culture.

Volunteers play a key role in keeping guests moving comfortably throughout this event while adding a little extra brightness to their experience.

During this event, as a volunteer group you will:

    • Work in pairs or trios
    • Help guide guests along the event’s designated path by being placed at specific intersections
    • Assist with general directions & questions
    • Maintain a safe, steady flow of guest traffic
    • Take photos for guests
