    Description

    Making Dallas a No-Kill city is a big job and as a volunteer-based organization, we need a lot of great volunteers to do it. Dallas Pets Alive relies heavily on foster homes to save animals from euthanasia. As a Dogs Matter Foster Coordinator, you will be making a huge impact on this mission by assisting our partner Dogs Matter with networking for fosters.

    Team: Foster

    Reports to: Dogs Matter Team, Foster Director, Assistant VP of Animal Operations VP of Animal Operations and the Executive Director.

    Works with: Will have regular and continuous contact virtually or over the phone with team leaders

    Role Summary:

    The Dogs Matter Foster Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between Dallas Pets Alive and Dogs Matter. This role ensures that every incoming Dogs Matter pet is documented, supported, and placed with an approved foster through clear communication, organized workflows, and consistent follow through.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the main point of contact for all Dogs Matter foster inquiries and “tags”
    • Receive assigned tasks through Doobert, gather all information and photos, and upload to Trello
    • Tag social media team members in Trello when promotion is needed
    • Maintain and update the Dogs in Need Google Album and Trello board
    • Confirm foster approval and coordinate handoffs between Dogs Matter, fosters, and DPA
    • Communicate with fosters and/or volunteers via Slack, email, Facebook groups, and direct outreach
    • Post foster needs in the DPA Foster Facebook Group and relevant breed or community pages
    • Respond to and support inquiries sent to foster-apps@ regarding Dogs Matters fosters
    • Ensure medical records, surrender forms, foster agreements, and other documentation are obtained and in the right hands
    • Track foster placement progress and follow up as needed

    What Success Looks Like:

    • Pets are processed quickly, accurately, and consistently across systems
    • Fosters feel supported and informed throughout the inquiry and intake process
    • Dogs Matter receives timely updates and clear communication
    • Trello, Doobert, Slack, and ShelterLuv remain organized and up to date
    • Pets are placed efficiently and safely into approved foster homes, foster parents, and other volunteers.

    Qualifications/Skills:

    • HS diploma/equivalent required with related animal/rescue group experience
    • Ability to work virtually (phone, email)
    • Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare

    Dallas Pets Alive! Musts:

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills to maintain professional level correspondence at all times
    • A motivational, can-do attitude to represent Dallas Pets Alive! in a positive manner to our supporters and the general public
    • A problem-solving mindset to handle and diffuse challenging situations in a professional manner
    • A love for animals and dedication to the cause of animal welfare
