    ABOUT THE ROLE

    Beraka Better Life Initiatives is seeking a skilled and creative WordPress Developer to lead the development and ongoing management of our organizational website. This is an opportunity to use technology as a tool for social change - ensuring that BBLI's mission, programs (including Project 5000), and impact stories reach the audiences that matter most.

    The selected volunteer will be responsible for creating a functional, responsive, and visually compelling website that reflects BBLI's professionalism and commitment to community development.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Design, develop, and maintain BBLI's WordPress website from the ground up or from existing structure
    • Customize themes and plugins to align with organizational branding and communications needs
    • Ensure full responsiveness across mobile, tablet, and desktop platforms
    • Optimize website performance including loading speed, SEO rankings, and security protocols
    • Upload and manage dynamic content including blog posts, project updates, events, and media galleries
    • Integrate donation systems, contact forms, and web analytics tools
    • Troubleshoot technical issues promptly and perform regular maintenance updates
    • Collaborate closely with the media, communications, and program teams

    KEY DELIVERABLES

    • A fully functional, mobile-responsive, and professionally designed website
    • Updated web pages accurately reflecting BBLI's programs, impact, and team
    • Integrated and tested donation portal and contact systems
    • Documented website handover guide and maintenance notes for the internal team

    IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

    • Demonstrable experience with WordPress development including themes, plugins, and site customization
    • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript
    • Familiarity with SEO principles and website performance optimization
    • Strong attention to detail, aesthetic sensibility, and problem-solving ability
    • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet agreed deadlines
    • Prior experience working with NGOs, nonprofits, or development organizations is an advantage

    PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

    Volunteers accepted into this role are expected to:

    • Maintain consistent and professional communication with the BBLI team
    • Submit weekly progress reports with clear milestone updates
    • Complete all assigned tasks within agreed timelines and to an acceptable standard of quality
