    Description

Slant’d is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, independent publishing house reimagining publishing to be more accessible, equitable, and joyful for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs). Built from the ground up by and for the AAPI community, we partner with undiscovered writers and artists to co-create vibrant works that spark curiosity, introspection, and joy. Since 2017, we’ve empowered 200+ AAPI creatives to find their voice and a greater sense of belonging — and we’re just getting started.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Fulfillment Coordinator to own the physical side of Slant’d’s operations: making sure our publications, merchandise, and thank-you gifts get to the right people at the right time. This is a hands-on, logistics-focused role that keeps our community feeling seen and cared for every time something arrives in their mailbox.

This role is ideal for someone who is based in the Los Angeles area, takes pride in doing things accurately and on time, and wants to contribute to Slant’d’s mission in a tangible, practical way.

    SCOPE OF THE ROLE

The Fulfillment Coordinator reports directly to the Chief of Staff. While Slant’d is a fully-remote organization; this role requires a home base in the Los Angeles area, as you’ll be picking up and managing physical inventory locally.

This is a fully volunteer role expected to begin April 2026, lasting at least 1 year with the opportunity to continue afterwards. We anticipate a commitment of approximately 2–4 hours per week on average, with some fluctuation around key fulfillment moments (e.g., literary magazine or book launches). The role is otherwise flexible around when work gets done.

Slant’d will provide a label maker or reimburse you for one if you already have one, and will cover the cost of shipping materials (envelopes, mailers, etc.) that you purchase on our behalf.

    WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

Joining Slant’d means becoming part of something bigger: a collective of AAPI dreamers and doers who believe deeply in the power of storytelling. In addition to the meaningful work itself, you can expect:

    • A behind-the-scenes look at how an independent nonprofit publishing house operates end-to-end
    • The satisfaction of knowing that every package you send is a tangible expression of Slant’d’s care for its community
    • A vibrant community of passionate, fun-loving creative humans who are fiercely committed to creating spaces for our community’s stories to shine
    • Slant’d publications and merch, including copies of our latest issue and invitations to Slant’d events
    • The chance to make a real impact in the AAPI community and independent publishing

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Order Fulfillment
      • Pack and ship online shop orders on a weekly basis via USPS
      • Fulfill donor thank-you gifts on a monthly basis (for new donors only)
      • Fulfill contributor and team thank-you copies when each literary magazine issue is released
      • Fulfill retailer and wholesale orders and restocks as needed (ideally quarterly)
      • Ship magazines and merch to specific internal teams for zine fests and book fairs
      • Ship magazines and merch to the Programs team for annual programs
      • Ship Slant’d inventory to artist partners as needed
    • Inventory Management:
      • Pick up new inventory in the Los Angeles area at the start of your term and as needed
      • Organize and restock shelves with incoming donated or purchased goods
      • Manage the Inventory Management Tracker in real-time as items are removed or restocked

    • Highly dependable and detail-oriented; you follow through consistently and don’t let things slip
    • Comfortable working independently and self-managing a recurring weekly and monthly task load
