    Description

    Hospice Pen Pal Volunteer - Michigan

    Role Overview:

    The Care Team Hospice is seeking Pen Pal Volunteers to provide companionship, encouragement, and meaningful connection to our patients through written communication. As a Pen Pal Volunteer, you will help brighten a patient’s day by sharing letters, stories, and thoughtful messages that foster connection and reduce feelings of isolation.

    Responsibilities may include:

    Companionship: Writing letters, sharing stories, exchanging cards, sending seasonal greetings, or sharing personal interests and experiences with patients

    Connection & Engagement: Helping patients feel remembered, valued, and connected by maintaining a consistent and caring correspondence

    No medical background required!

    Training and Support:

    Receive training on hospice care principles, communication best practices, and ongoing support from our team to help you feel prepared and confident in your role.

    Time Commitment:

    Flexible hours to fit your schedule, typically a couple of hours a month. You choose the time that works best for you!

    Requirements:

    • Background Check
    • Must be at least 18

    We also have opportunities for in-person companionship, vigil volunteering, certified pet therapy, and veteran-to-veteran volunteering!
