    Description

    POSITION TYPE: Volunteer Leadership

    COMMITMENT: Approx. 3-5 hours/month + events

LOCATION: Global / Hybrid TERM 1 year, renewable

REPORTS TO: GHLF Leadership / Associate Board Chair

    STATUS: Unpaid volunteer position

    Position Overview

The Global Healthcare Leaders Foundation (GHLF) is seeking accomplished and experienced professionals to join its Associate Board, a volunteer leadership group designed to expand GHLF's network, philanthropic reach, programs, partnerships, and global impact.

Associate Board members serve as ambassadors, connectors, fundraisers, and program advocates. Members use their professional experience, expertise, and networks to advance GHLF's work across Talent, Technology, and Expansion. The Associate Board provides meaningful nonprofit leadership experience without assuming the fiduciary responsibilities reserved for GHLF's governing Board of Directors.

    About GHLF

GHLF brings together healthcare leaders, innovators, partners, philanthropists, and supporters to advance the future of healthcare. Its growing program portfolio includes global healthcare scholarships, health innovation pilots, Healthcare Leadership Awards, global city chapters, monthly leadership programming, retreats, membership, mentorship, and strategic partnerships.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Serve as an ambassador for GHLF within professional, philanthropic, healthcare, and community networks.
    • Introduce prospective donors, sponsors, members, strategic partners, speakers, honorees, and other healthcare leaders.
    • Support Annual Fund, sponsorship, partnership, and other fundraising initiatives.
    • Attend and promote GHLF events, leadership programs, retreats, and chapter activities.
    • Help identify potential Healthcare Leadership Award honorees and program participants.
    • Support the development and growth of GHLF city chapters globally.
    • Introduce hospitals, universities, corporations, technology companies, foundations, hospitality partners, and other prospective collaborators.
    • Provide professional expertise to selected GHLF programs, committees, and strategic initiatives.
    • Mentor emerging healthcare leaders and, where appropriate, GHLF Scholars.
    • Participate consistently in Associate Board meetings, committees, and special projects.

    Fundraising & Ambassador Expectations

Associate Board members should be comfortable helping GHLF open doors, build relationships, and expand resources rather than simply attending meetings. Members may identify prospective supporters, facilitate introductions, invite individuals to GHLF events and programs, and help expand the Foundation's donor, sponsor, membership, and partnership network.

GHLF may establish an annual give-or-get expectation that can be fulfilled through an approved combination of personal giving, donations secured, sponsorships, memberships, in-kind support, or other philanthropic resources. Any specific expectation should be communicated before appointment.

    Committee Opportunities

Members may serve on committees aligned with their expertise, including Development & Fundraising; Membership & Growth; Healthcare Leadership Awards; Chapters & Global Expansion; Scholarships & Mentorship; Health Innovation; Corporate Partnerships; Events & Retreats; and Communications & Public Relations.

    Ideal Candidate

    • Approximately 5+ years of meaningful professional experience; exceptional candidates at other career stages may be considered.
    • Professional credibility, leadership ability, and a demonstrated willingness to contribute time and relationships.
    • Interest in healthcare, philanthropy, leadership, innovation, education, workforce development, or global impact. • Ability to collaborate with professionals from different industries, disciplines, and geographic markets.
    • Commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, inclusion, and responsible representation of GHLF.

Relevant backgrounds may include healthcare, medicine, nursing, health systems, technology and AI, finance and investment, law, consulting, philanthropy, academia, entrepreneurship, hospitality, communications, government, public health, life sciences, or related sectors.

    Member Commitment

    ATTEND

Participate consistently in Associate Board meetings and key GHLF events.

    ENGAGE

Serve on at least one committee or strategic initiative.

    CONNECT

Make meaningful introductions to supporters, partners, members, honorees, and leaders.

    SUPPORT

Participate in fundraising and resource-development activities.

    ADVOCATE

Represent GHLF positively within professional and community networks.

    LEAD

Take ownership of selected projects and help move initiatives from ideas to execution.

    What Members Gain

Associate Board service is first and foremost a volunteer commitment to GHLF's charitable mission. Members also gain opportunities to collaborate with a global network of healthcare leaders, contribute to high-impact initiatives, build nonprofit leadership and governance experience, participate in selected leadership events and retreats, mentor emerging leaders, and engage in conversations around healthcare innovation and the future healthcare workforce.

    Associate Board vs. Governing Board

    Governing Board of Directors

    Associate Board

Fiduciary oversight, governance, strategy, financial stewardship, and legal responsibilities.

Ambassadorship, fundraising, networking, programs, partnerships, and community engagement.

The Associate Board is advisory and volunteer-based and does not replace GHLF's governing Board of Directors. This distinction should be reflected in GHLF's governing documents and Associate Board charter.

    Leadership Structure

Associate Board Chair | Vice Chair | Secretary | Development Chair | Membership & Engagement Chair | Programs & Events Chair | Partnerships Chair | Chapter/Global Expansion Chair

This structure gives experienced volunteers meaningful leadership responsibilities while creating a potential pipeline for future governing Board service.

    Appointment

Prospective members should provide a resume or professional biography and statement of interest. Candidates may be interviewed by GHLF leadership before appointment. Selection should consider professional experience, mission alignment, ability to contribute, diversity of expertise and perspective, and willingness to meet the responsibilities of Associate Board membership.
