Scholarship review volunteers are an essential part of Olympic College Foundation’s work awarding more than $600,000 in scholarships and direct student aid each year.
Scholarship reviews are completed entirely online and can be done around your schedule from the comfort of your own home. The typical time commitment is between 2 and 4 hours depending on the number of reviews you sign up for. Reviews take place twice a year in spring and in fall and reviewers typically have approximately 4 weeks to complete their reviews.
The Olympic College Foundation relies on our community volunteers to provide unbiased reviews of scholarship applications. Reviewers are provided with a standardized scoring rubric and training is provided. Scholarships are reviewed “blind” and every student’s application is reviewed by three different volunteers, whose scores are then averaged.
Selection of scholarship recipients is done by the OC Foundation Scholarship Committee, comprised of OC staff and OC Foundation board members, who review the top candidates for each scholarship and select the best candidate based on the scholarship’s criteria.
Scholarship reviews will take place between April 24 and May 20. Volunteers will complete reviews around their own schedule and from the comfort of their own home. If you can commit to volunteering 2-4 hours during this 4 week time frame, and can watch a 45-minute training video, we would love to have you sign up as a volunteer!
