Communications & Engagement Volunteer (Remote)

Type: Skilled Volunteer / Pro Bono

Duration: 3 – 12 Months (part-time, remote or hybrid)

Time Commitment: 2–4 hours per week

Innovations for Sustainability Africa (ISA) is a growing Tanzanian nonprofit organization committed to empowering children, youth, and women through innovative education, health, sustainable livelihoods, environmental conservation, and community leadership. ISA partners with communities, government agencies, civil society, and the private sector to implement inclusive and innovative solutions for sustainable development.

About the Role

This is a remote Communications & Engagement Volunteer role. The volunteer will support internal and external communications, stakeholder engagement, and storytelling across digital and written platforms to strengthen ISA’s public presence and community connections.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop a communication strategy aligned with ISA’s mission and target audiences
• Develop clear, compelling written content for website, newsletters, and reports
• Support community and stakeholder engagement through digital channels
• Translate program activities into accessible stories and impact narratives
• Collaborate with Branding and Social Media volunteers to create and schedule engaging content across platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter), ensuring message consistency
• Support communication materials for partnerships, donors, and volunteer outreach
• Monitor engagement metrics and provide regular performance reports
• Advise ISA staff on best practices for digital outreach and online community engagement
• Coordinate with Program teams to highlight program outcomes and success stories

Skills & Competencies

• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
• Background in communications, journalism, development, or related fields
• Ability to convey complex ideas clearly and engagingly
• Experience in social media management and digital marketing
• Experience with nonprofit or social impact communications preferred
