    Description

    Group Guest Aide

Do you enjoy working with children? Are you looking to gain experience managing groups? Help Discovery World’s Education Staff as a Group Guest Aide!

With up to 700 students coming through our doors in a day for field trips, we are looking for enthusiastic and dependable people to help with welcoming, orientating, wayfinding, and lunch transitions for students, teachers, and chaperones during these visits. You will help staff give groups a positive experience during their time at Discovery World.

    DUTIES

Under the direction of our Education and Guest Services Team Members, Group Guest Aides will:

    • Give groups direction on where to put their belongings
    • Ensure that coats and lunchboxes are organized
    • Help hand out wristbands as needed
    • Oversee the lunchroom
      • Keeping groups on time
      • Cleaning tables as needed

Ideal candidates will have experience with groups and/or children.

Our groups enter Discovery World through the Pavilion space, located on the technology side of our building, right off the Power On exhibit. The Pavilion has large, floor to ceiling windows on two sides, with additional artificial lighting on the ceiling. Noise levels will vary based on the number of people in the space.

Every day will be different based on the number of groups visiting as well as the number of people in each group. The Volunteer Supervisor will send out an email highlighting the busiest upcoming days for groups, so that volunteers know which day their help is most needed.

This position includes periods of standing/walking but may be seated for portions of the shift. May include bending and twisting as needed for interaction and tidying.

Online background check for those 18+ is required. Liability and Confidentiality Waiver signature required.

    TIMES NEEDED

This role will take place Wednesday-Friday, 9am-1pm. The availability of shifts may vary due to school breaks. In the summer, we look for help with our Summer Camp programming.
