    Volunteer Garden Rx Greeter

    Seasonal Program Dates | 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM

    Rest Stop Ranch is a trusted and inclusive community destination for respite, recreation, education, and healing throughout and beyond the long-term-care journey. We provide spiritual-psycho-social- emotional support to long-term-care givers and receivers. We are seeking multiple compassionate individuals to serve as Garden Rx Greeters, working alongside our Volunteer Coordinator to welcome guests into our therapeutic gardens for "Prescription for Peace" open garden hours.

    The Successful Candidates for Garden Rx Greeter will:

    • Provide a Warm Welcome: Serve as the first point of contact for guests arriving for therapeutic
    • garden time, greeting all with kindness and love.
    • Manage Attendance: Greet guests and collect attendance information for program records.
    • Distribute Resources: Provide program literature and maps of the wheelchair-accessible trails.
    • Offer Trail Guidance: Provide verbal guidance on trail routes and highlight specific garden features, such as the 0.3-mile Cottage and Secret Gardens.
    • Maintain Safety: E􏰀ectively communicate Rest Stop Ranch rules in a non-threatening manner.
    • Adhere to Care Policies: Strictly follow the policy that sta􏰀 and volunteers are not responsible for
    • direct physical assistance, including dressing, eating, ambulating, or toileting hygiene.
    • Required Training & Skills
    • Orientation: Volunteers are oriented and then paired with a member of our team to perform tasks.
    • Compassion & Empathy: A strong desire to act for the mission and vision of Rest Stop Ranch to support those on the long-term-care journey.
    • Communication: Able to talk informally to children and adults, in groups and one-on-one.
    • Professional Standards: Reporting to work on time and in uniform/dress code as outlined in our
    • handbook.

    Time Commitment & Seasonal Frequency

    • The Garden Rx program is seasonal, running from April through November on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
    • Event Hours: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
    • Volunteer Commitment: 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM to allow for setup and cleanup.
    • Flexible Scheduling: Volunteers can register for the specific dates they are able to cover.
    • Required Commitment: We are looking for a commitment of 6 or more Garden Rx days per volunteer for the 2026 season.
