    Description

    2026 Maine Heart Walk

The American Heart Association in Maine is excited to announce a call for volunteers for our 2026 Maine Heart Walk! Our annual walk is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Back Cove Trail (pre-walk celebration will take place at the parking lot). This event is widely attended by members of the community, heart disease and stroke survivors, local businesses, and friends of the organization.

What is a Heart Walk? Cardiovascular disease occurs every 39 seconds and is the No. 1 killer of all Americans. Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. And congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects. When you join a local Heart Walk, you join more than a million people in 300+ cities across America in taking a stand against heart disease and helping save lives!

We're looking for help with event setup, event execution, and breakdown/cleanup. Volunteer responsibilities include setting up tables, hanging banners and signage, manning activity tables, handing out water, cheering on walkers, and event breakdown.

    3 shifts available:

    • This shift involves event set-up and help during the event: Sunday May 17, 2025 - 5:30am to 10:00am
    • This shift involves event teardown only: Sunday May 18, 2025 - 10:00am to 1:30pm
    • This shift involves helping with the entire event from start to finish - 5:30am to 1:30pm
    • We are seeking volunteers to assist with some light set-up the day before the event. Please let us know if you'd like to help the day.

We look forward to a morning of fun, community, and raising awareness at this family-friendly event and hope you can join us to help make this day a success and a difference!

If you're interested in volunteering and would like more information, please email Chelsea Kondratowicz, Development Coordinator at chelsea.kondratowicz@heart.org.
