Friendly Visitor for Hospice patients in Madison, Sun Prairie, Verona, Stoughton, Waunakee, Portage and surrounding areas
Details
Description
Volunteers are the HEART of Heartland Hospice! No matter who you are, you've got something to offer hospice patients. Typically, the needs are simple: companionship and friendship, emotional support, someone to listen. The small things you do can make an enormous difference in someone's life.
You can assist patients by visiting, reading, writing letters, playing music, or just sitting quietly.
Benefits:
We serve patients and families in their homes and in various care facilities. This flexible location means that there is likely a patient close to you.
Most volunteers commit to a few hours per month. We work with your schedule.
This opportunity will let you practice soft and social skills, such as active listening, empathy, and conversation. It will also give you experience in a health care environment. Both of these will look great on a resume.
Requirements:
Volunteers must be 18 years or older with good interpersonal and communication skills with reliable transportation. Application packet, background check, orientation, training, non-THC drug screen, and TB tests are provided.
Volunteers need to have the ability to work independently with indirect supervision, and a willingness to help others as a member of the hospice team. Volunteer schedules are based on your availability and are very flexible. Assignments are based on your level of comfort.
