    Description & Qualifications

    About the Opportunity:

She Empowers is seeking three foundational board officers to serve as a high-level support system for the Executive Director. We are a registered Connecticut Public Charity (#CHR.0068079-EXEMPT) developing a residential "Fortress" model for student-mothers in New Britain/Hartford. Our goal is to finalize our federal 501(c)(3) status and launch our 5-family pilot program.

We are looking for "Working Board" members—experts who want to use their professional skills to execute the founder's vision.

    1. Board Chair (Strategic Assistant)

Role: Acts as the Founder’s strategic co-pilot; handles high-level networking, assists with strategic planning, and gatekeeps the Executive Director's time.

        Qualifications:

        • Experience in Executive Leadership, Real Estate Development, or Higher Education Administration.
        • Strong local networking skills within the Hartford County area.
        • Ability to delegate tasks and provide administrative "air cover" for the Executive Director.
        1. Board Treasurer (Financial Guardian)

Role: Manages technical financial compliance, oversees the $600 IRS 501(c)(3) filing process, and ensures audit-ready bookkeeping.

            Qualifications:

Must be a Licensed CPA or have an equivalent senior accounting background.

              • Experience with nonprofit tax law (Form 990-N) and financial reporting.
              • Commitment to maintaining transparency for grant-readiness.
              1. Board Secretary (Admin Coordinator)

Role: Manages the organization’s "paper trail," records digital minutes, and maintains the archive of residential and childcare protocols.

                  Qualifications:

                  • Strong background in Administration, Paralegal work, or Health Administration.
                  • Expertise in digital file management (Google Drive/Cloud systems).
                  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for protocol compliance.
