    Description

We’re looking for a reliable, hands-on volunteer to help maintain a small garden and care for chickens at a property that supports housing for vulnerable young adults.

This space isn’t just functional; it’s part of the experience. The garden and animals provide opportunities for grounding, responsibility, and enrichment for the young adults who live there.

    What You’ll Do

    • Maintain garden spaces (planting, watering, weeding, harvesting)
    • Support basic chicken care (feeding, cleaning, monitoring health)
    • Help keep outdoor areas clean, safe, and usable
    • Identify opportunities to improve or expand the garden/farm setup
    • Occasionally engage residents in simple, appropriate gardening tasks (when aligned with program goals)

    What We’re Looking For

    • Prior experience with gardening, urban farming, or small-scale agriculture
    • Comfort caring for animals (especially chickens)
    • Willingness to do physical, outdoor work consistently
    • Self-starter who can take initiative and notice what needs attention
    • Respectful, grounded presence when on-site

    Program Awareness

    • This property supports young adults in a sensitive season of life—professionalism and appropriate boundaries are essential
    • Volunteers should be mindful of when to engage vs. when to simply support the environment
    • The goal is to contribute to a space that feels safe, dignified, and restorative

    Why This Matters

A well-kept outdoor space creates food, rhythm, responsibility, and a sense of pride. Your role helps make that possible.
